Is Creationism fact or fiction?

Creationism is an unfortunate fact: there are people who believe that their interpretation of scripture counters extensive physical evidence. Although its proponents are so ridiculous to seem fictional, and they invoke numerous fictions (e.g. fanciful interpretations of thermodynamics) to attack the evidence, they are real as those who claim the Earth is flat.
