Do you think there is genetic component to political party affiliation.?

No. I think that it's a combination of cultural factors and personal experience. I think that generally people vote for the party their parents voted for because they were conditioned to favor that one and the other. We develop our perceptions really young so even as adults most people are biased towards that. However experience can lead to differing views. I study medical anthropology and a lot of that has to do with oppression, social epidemiology, etc. The facts are astounding and it's the most difficult thing to sum up and explain to someone that doesn't study it. It's so complex. I think that being exposed to that kind of stuff definitely would make someone more prone to supporting things such as universal healthcare and a stronger welfare system.
