Got a rental, didn't get insurance, got hit by an unisured driver!! can i use my UM coverage?

so i rented this car and i didn't purchase the insurance from the rental. one night i asked my boyfriend to drive for me then minutes later..bam!! some girl who was fighting with her bf t -boned my rental after running a red light with no headlights on. she didn't have insurance and we were all badly hurt. i filed a claim with my insurance for bodily injury since i have uninsured motorist coverage. can my claim be denied since 1) the rental was not in my policy? 2) it was i and not my bf who rented the car and he was the one driving when the accident happened? my insurance has been "evaluating" our claim for months now and hasn't given me a decision. i am so confused...pls help!
