Guys (Men) need your honest opinion?

Okay I saw a guy this weekend I use to like for the first time in about four years. We chatted on an off for awhile but ceased communication about two years ago. I never told him that I liked him and likewise he never told me so im not sure if he did. However he did reach out to communicate a couple of times and I played around not calling him back. Blame it on immaturity. So when I saw him I knew he was in town for a conference and would be busy. We did exchange numbers and he did tell me he was going to hang out that night with some of the other guys who were in town for the conference. So I called him to see where he would be and he text me back two hours laters asking what was up, I told him just trying to see where he was hanging out, he told me but I wasnt able to make it because it was sooo late. Anyway I did tell him that I would love to catch up with him and that if he had any free time to let me know. His response, Ok. That was the end. He left town and never communicated back with me. Was I rejected because I sure as H feel this way? What would be his reasoning to not even call or text me.
