Log Transformation of Percentiles?

After looking at the distribution for percentile scores on the Wais verbal subtest, I decided to log transform the data to give the distribution a more normal shape. I know I could do this with raw data, but it just doesn't feel like its okay to do this with percentiles. So I do it or not? Please give statistical and/or mathematical reasoning.
