Why do you think McCain was on the democratic short-list for VP in 2004?

It seems all you conservatives are voting the most conservative conservative there is! I always liked McCain so I've brushed up on him and have been following his career the last few years. He was on the VP short list for Kerry but said (after he wasn't chosen) that he would not have accepted He and Obama actually worked together (alot!) on the Climate Stewardship Act (a dumb idea for both of them btw). Call me a conspiracy theorist (cause I am) but I think all these mistakes by McCain are little more than a carefully devised plan to put Obama in the White House. It seems like everytime Mccain is up in the polls he does or says something so dumb and his numbers drop. They knew the only way to put a black man in the White House is for one side to take a dive it seems. Palin?!?! Really? What do you all think about this?
